Air Force Vs. LSU: Tigers' Kevin Gausman Will Start Vs. Falcons Friday Night

The Air Force Falcons are in Baton Rouge, La., this weekend for the LSU Tournament that also includes the LSU Tigers and the Alcorn St. Braves. The Alcorn State begins at 10 a.m. MT on Friday, but the marquee matchup of this tournament comes on Friday night between the Falcons and LSU.

In that game, the Tigers will have Denver native Kevin Gausman take the mound for the first game of the season. Gausman, a sixth-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010, is expected to be one of the top pitchers in the 2012 MLB Draft. He will pitch at 6 p.m. MT.

In 2011, the 6-foot-4 draft-eligible sophomore went 5-6 with a 3.51 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 89.2 innings. He is now the Friday starter for the Tigers and should help the No. 8 team make the NCAA Baseball Tournament this season. Air Force will have Sean Carley on the mound to oppose LSU. He went 3-5 with a 3.94 ERA as a sophomore last season.
