The Week 2 BlogPoll is out and there's a new No. 1 in the country. The LSU Tigers jumped from No. 6 to the top spot by picking up 41 first-place votes. The Oklahoma Sooners stayed at No. 2 while previously No. 1 Alabama dropped to No. 3.
Among the Mountain West teams, the No. 4 Boise State Broncos stayed in the same position as they were in Week 1, even after a convincing victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. The TCU Horned Frogs lost to the Baylor Bears, 50-48, to open the season and voters dropped them out of the top 25. According to the results, TCU received one vote for being the No. 10 team in the nation, but most voters put them in the 18-25 range.
That victory propelled the Bears up 53 spots in the rankings to No. 18, which might be the biggest leap in the BlogPoll's history. Robert Griffin III was outstanding both passing and running the ball against the Horned Frogs and should be a Heisman contender if the Bears can continue to come together. They appeared as high as No. 2 on one ballot.
The Air Force Falcons received eight votes in the first BlogPoll release and moved down to five this week. Will a victory over TCU this Saturday boost them up several spots?
