Air Force Football's Asher Clark On Doak Walker Award Watch List

You just know college football is around the corner when the annual preseason watch lists come out. Case in point, Air Force Falcons senior halfback Asher Clark is on the 2011 Doak Walker Watch List. Clark did have over 1,000 rushing yards and put the ball into the end zone five times in 2010.

Does he really have chance at being a finalist for this award? Honestly, no. Just look at the names on the list: Oregon's LaMichael James (2010 Doak Walker winner), San Diego State's Ronnie Hillman, South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore and Washington's Chris Polk are among the 51 players on the preseason watch list.

The team does need to find a replacement for the departed Jared Tew at fullback, but senior quarterback Tim Jefferson will be the major factor in deciding how successful a season the Falcons have this fall. A game against TCU during the second week of the season will be an early indicator of how well they will do this season.

Who knows, maybe Asher Clark can have a signature game against the Horned Frogs that September afternoon.
