What happens when one mixes a triple-option offense from the Mountain West Conference with the "hot MACtion" of a Mid-American Conference? The No. 7-ranked college football bowl game of the season, according to SB Nation's Spencer hall and his Bowl Game 2011 rankings.
The Air Force Falcons represent the Mountain West and the Toledo Rockets showcase what the MAC is capable of in the 2011 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman on Dec. 28 at R.F.K. Stadium. As Spencer writes:
First rule: always watch a triple option team in bowl season, because defenses have no idea what they're looking at for at least one half. Two: always opt for hot MACtion, especially when the Rockets are involved.
Head coach Troy Calhoun, quarterback Tim Jefferson and the rest of the Falcons certainly want to offer a rude surprise for the Rockets in this game. With the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy in hand for a second year in a row, Air Force can win its third straight bowl game after winning the Military Bowl and the Independence Bowl in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
