Toledo Vs. Air Force, 2011 Military Bowl: High-Powered Offenses Collide In The Nation's Capital

The Air Force Falcons (7-5) and the Toledo Rockets (8-4) square off on Wednesday night for the 2011 Military Bowl. As Jeremiah Oshan of SB Nation College Football notes, the Military Bowl features two surprisingly elite offenses:

You'll be excused for not realizing this, but two of the nation's top offenses will face off when the Toledo Rockets takes on the Air Force Falcons in the 2011 Military Bowl on Dec. 28. The reason you probably didn't notice that the Rockets are ranked eighth in yards per game and the Falcons are ranked 19th? Probably because both play in small markets within relatively overlooked conferences.

Adding intrigue to the matchup, the Rockets will be without Tim Beckman, their head coach through the last three regular seasons. Beckman, hired by the Illinois Fighting Illini, left the team after the conclusion of the regular season. As a result, Toledo promoted offensive coordinator Matt Campbell, a 32-year-old Ohio native, to the head coach position.

Campbell, who has been calling plays from the press booth through the 2011 season, apparently intends to keep his bird's eye in the bowl game as well:

Interesting tidbit from today: new Toledo HC Matt Campbell will coach from the press box. Wants as little change as possible. 1 hour ago via txt · powered by @socialditto

With an average of over 42 points scored throughout the season, few can blame Campbell for wanting to keep the Rockets offense consistent.
