The Air Force Falcons (4-2) took a nine-point lead at the end of the first half, and conveyed that early advantage into a steady 63-51 win over the Ark.-Pine Bluff Golden Lions (1-4).
Junior guard Michael Lyons once again reached double digits in points, sinking 10 field goals for a team and game-high of 23 points. Junior center Taylor Broekhuis kept Golden Lions frustrated at the boards, snagging 9 rebounds while also adding 7 points of his own.
The Golden Lions, who found themselves down 29-20 in the first half, did not go down silently as Savalance Townsend (16 points, 5 rebounds) and Lazabian Jackson (13 points) each cracked the 10-point as Arkansas-Pine Bluff fought to regain its footing in the second half, but ultimately the early Falcons' lead proved too much and Air Force finished the 63-51 victors.
The Air Force Falcons basketball team will be back in action next Saturday, hosting the Md.-Eastern Shore Hawks at 7:00 PM MST.
