While many bowl projections are calling for the Air Force Falcons to go to the Northrop Grumman-sponsored Military Bowl in Washington, D.C., SB Nation's Bill Connelly, however, projects the Falcons to play in the first bowl game of the season: the New Mexico Bowl. Ooph.
The games takes place on Dec. 17 in Albuquerque, NM. Gildan is in its first year sponsoring this bowl. If Connelly's prediction holds up, the Falcons would face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, who are 7-5 and are likely going to their first bowl game ever. The Hilltoppers joined the FCS level in 2007.
It will take some help to get Western Kentucky into this bowl, since the Pac-12 has the other tie-in to this game (the Mountain West took over from the WAC this season). The Hilltoppers are from the Sun Belt.
