2011 Bowl Projections: Air Force To The Poinsetta Bowl?

With an easy 42-0 victory over the New Mexico Lobos this past Saturday, the Air Force Falcons moved to 4-4 on the 2011 season. With the tough part of their schedule now firmly in their rearview mirror, the Falcons are poised to make a run at postseason play. Air Force will take on Navy on Saturday, who they haven't lost to since 2005. After that comes Wyoming, UNLV and Colorado State. The latter two should be easy victories for the Falcons, though their showdown versus the Mountain West leading Cowboys will likely decide where they end up this bowl season.

In his newest bowl projections, SB Nation's Bill Connelly is bullish on the Falcons. He has them projected to win out and finish 8-4, which according to his math would have Air Force shipping out West to face Utah State in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsetta Bowl. Connelly has the (other) Aggies pegged for a 6-6 finish, which would potentially open the door for Air Force to finish 2011 with nine wins.
