Tim Jefferson Injury Update: Quarterback's Status Against UNLV Is Up In The Air

Air Force Falcons quarterback Tim Jefferson was knocked out of the game in the loss against the Wyoming Cowboys with a concussion and the status of Jefferson against the UNLV Rebels is up in the air. Jefferson will have to follow Air Force protocol which calls for no physical activity for 48 hours and also be symptom free. If Jefferson clears that then he could practice but with no contact, and the earliest he could take part in contact would be midweek:

Calhoun said Jefferson wouldn't be practicing until Wednesday "at the very, very soonest," although he can do some activities if he feels better today. Air Force won't have a clear idea of Jefferson's status until he practices.

If Jefferson is unable to go on Saturday against UNLV then Connor Dietz will get the start. Dietz filled in for Jefferson against Wyoming and had 85 yards rushing the ball. Not knowing if Jefferson will be able to play on Saturday makes preparing for the game more difficult. The option offense is still going to be ran, but Dietz is a better runner while Jefferson is the better passer and that keeps the defense from keying in only on the run option. So, the team will spend the time and prepare for both quarterbacks and will have a better idea of their offensive game plan once the status of Jefferson is more clear later this week.
