The TCU Horned Frogs vs. Boise State Broncos game from this past Saturday was a de facto Mountain West title game, and with the Horned Frogs pulling off a stunning 36-35 victory, they all but assured themselves the conference title. The Horned Frogs currently sit at 5-0 in the conference, and with the Broncos at 3-1 and down the head-to-head tie breaker, TCU merely needs to win one of the final two conference games in order to win the conference. And what are those final two games? TCU will host the Colorado State Rams and the UNLV Rebels, two of the worst teams in the Mountain West.
TCU dropping two games at home to teams below .500 would qualify as one of the most shocking developments in recent college football history, but crazier things have presumably happened, so Boise State has the slimmest glimmer of hope still left. The Broncos will need to win out in their final three games, which consist of a road trip to visit the San Diego Aztecs, then two home games vs. the Wyoming Cowboys and New Mexico Lobos to finish up the year.
Here are the MWC standings heading into Week 12:
- TCU Horned Frogs 5-0 (8-2)
- Boise State Broncos 3-1 (8-1)
- Wyoming Cowboys 3-1 (6-3)
- San Diego State Aztecs 3-2 (6-3)
- Colorado State Rams 1-3 (3-6)
- UNLV Rebels 1-3 (2-7)
- Air Force Falcons 1-4 (5-5)
- New Mexico Lobos 1-4 (1-9)
