The Stanford Cardinal made a four-spot leap in this week's Sagarin computer ratings (all mentions are from overall column, not ELO_Chess), jumping from No. 10 to No. 6, after a triple-overtime victory over the USC Trojans. The Boise St. Broncos fell one spot to No. 5. The 7-1 Oklahoma Sooners moved to No. 4 while LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma State remained in the top three spots.
This could bode well for the Cardinal when the latest BCS rankings come out on Sunday night. The computer rankings haven't been kind to Stanford in previous weeks, but this could be a sign that the other five computer rankings will move them up as well. Sagarin is one of the six computer rankings that contributes one-third of the BCS rankings.
Depending on how the other rankings have Boise State, the Broncos could wind up a straight five in the BCS standings this week.
