The Mountain West Conference-Conference USA merger appears to have put a hold on the exits of the Air Force Falcons and the Boise St. Broncos for the Big East. According to ESPN's Andy Katz, the two conferences voted for a football merger once Boise State committed to staying in the Mountain West. Air Force is also against leaving, it appears, because Army is not joining the Big East and Navy has been skeptical of the entire thing, as well.
Both schools did acknowledge that they have spoken with the Big East, but they voted to approve the merger, providing an indication that they will stay and join the new league.
But nothing is definitive yet, and there could be hiccups to resolve before everything is settled.
