College Football Rankings: Auburn Finishes No. 1; TCU, Oregon Follow In AP Poll

The final AP Top 25 poll for the 2010 college football season has the Auburn Tigers as the No. 1 team, but not the unanimous choice. While the Tigers won the BCS National Championship on Monday night to take the top spot with 14-0 record, the TCU Horned Frogs (13-0) finished No. 2 and received three first-place votes. Undoubtedly, many will wonder if the BCS standings had it right by having an Auburn-Oregon match-up in the game over TCU against either of the teams.

The Oregon Ducks (12-1), who lost to Auburn, finished No. 3. The Stanford Cardinal (12-1) and the Ohio St. Buckeyes (12-1) finished the top five teams.

The Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 12) and the Michigan St. Spartans (No. 14) both fell out of the top 10. The top 25 saw four new teams enter: the Central Flordia Knights (No. 21), the Maryland Terrapins (No. 23), the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (No. 24) and the N.C. State Wolfpack (No. 25).

Among other teams receiving votes, the Utah Utes were the last team out with 98 votes, while the San Diego St. Aztecs (52), the Air Force Falcons (5) and the BYU Cougars (1) all received consideration from some voters.
