Independence Bowl: Georgia Tech Suspends Three For Missing Curfew

Last Wednesday, Georgia Tech ruled that four players were ruled academically ineligible for the Independence Bowl and now three players will have to sit for a half for violating the teams curfew. Head coach Paul Johnson made the announcement Sunday morning:

Three members of the Georgia Tech football team -- senior DE Anthony Egbuniwe, junior DB Michael Peterson and freshman DB Louis Young -- will sit out the first half of Monday's Advocare V100 Independence Bowl Game because they missed a team curfew.

This is a big blow for Georgia Tech as all three players were contributors to this team. Anthony Egbuniwe started all 12 games this year and ened up with the fifth most tackles on the team with 59. Young saw action in all 12 games in the defensive backfield while Peterson played in all 12 games mainly as a special team player with some time in the secondary.

The total is up to seven players that Georgia Tech will be out when they take on Air Force Monday. Out of those seven playeres, five come from the defensive side of the ball. That could be an issue for Georgia Tech since their defense needs to be very disciplined when they take on the Falcon triple option offense.
