Four Georgia Tech Players Ruled Academically Ineligible For Independence Bowl

Georgia Tech is already without starting quarterback Joshua Nesbitt who has not fully recovered from a broken arm, but now they are down four more players when they take on Air Force in the Independence Bowl.These players were ruled academically ineligible by the school Thursday night:

Senior defensive end Robert Hall and senior linebacker Anthony Barnes are ineligible under NCAA academic guidelines. Sophomore wide receiver Stephen Hill and senior safety Mario Edwards, both listed as starters on the latest depth chart, are both ineligible for not meeting Georgia Tech's academic requirements.

The biggest lost is wide receiver Stephen Hill who lead the team with 15 receptions, three touchdowns, and is the teams deep threat by averaging over 19 yards per reception.

That may not seem like a huge loss, but in the triple option offense that Georgia Tech runs the deep ball is a key element once teams are lulled to sleep by the 10th straight fullback dive. The other key loss is safety Mario Edwards who had 68 tackles on the year, which was good enough for third on the team and forced a fumble.
