Not many people thought that the Colorado Buffaloes would go bowling, but sitting at 5-6 if -- and this is a big if -- the Buffaloes beat rival Nebraska this Friday they go bowling. Colorado would need a big game to beat Nebraska on the road, but if they do it they are in and would be ninth Big XII team to go bowling and perhaps the 10th if Texas is able to beat Texas A&M.
The Big XII has eight bowl tie-ins so Colorado would be an at-large choice for leagues that do not qualify enough teams. Currently the Pac-10 is the league that is looking to not have enough teams to fill their bowl assignments. The two bowls that could vie for Colorado's service would be the Las Vegas Bowl or the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Either of those bowls should want Colorado since they are going to be in the Pac-12 next year.
The Las Vegas Bowl would get to pick prior to the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl and if the Buffaloes go there they most likely would be facing future Pac-12 mate Utah. The Las Vegas Bowl would rather pick Colorado over a MAC team which has been the most looked at replacement. If Colorado goes to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl the expected opponent would be Fresno State out of the WAC.
However, the big task at hand is for Colorado is to try to upset Nebraska on the road this Friday.
