Air Force Leads Colorado State 28-7 At The Half

Air Force is now pulling away from Colorado State with a mix of the run and the pass. Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson had two deep passes that highlighted the Falcons first two drives. Air Force had a chance to put away the Rams (well earlier then expected) when all-conference defensive back Reggie Rembert intercepted Colorado State's Pete Thomas and returned the ball inside the Rams' ten yard line. However, the Falcons' Jared Tew fumbled the ball back to the Rams.

Colorado State was unable to capitalize while only being down 14-0, but Leonard Mason gave the ball right back to the Falcons, who went on a short drive of two plays that ended with a touchdown pass of 27 yards by Tim Jefferson to Zach Kauth. The Falcons went up 21-0.

The Rams then were able to get on the board because of a 70-yard kick off return by Derek Good. Then the Rams were able to actually run the ball on four straight plays to get on the board with a Lou Greenwood 13-yard touchdown run. When the Rams thought that they were getting a little momentum on their side the Falcons showed why they are a top 25 by marching down the field and scoring another touchdown to lead 28-7 at the half.

The Rams are actually not playing all that bad considering the score. They are actually running the ball well with 125 yards at the half. Colorado State prior to this game was dead last in running ball in the nation by averaging 53 yards per game. So, that is a bright spot for the Rams, but the passing game needs to get going. Pete Thomas only has 56 yards on the day with a paltry 3.3 yards per attempt.

The Rams had their shot when they forced a fumble inside their own ten yard line, and had they been able to march down and score this game might be heading in a different direction -- or would have given the Rams false hope until the inevitable.

Colorado State will need to play a better then perfect half to try to come from behind in this game. They do get the ball to start the third, so they better strike there to crawl back in this game.
