The Air Force Falcons swept this week's Mountain West Conference Players of the Week in Saturday's victory over the Navy Midshipmen. Quarterback Tim Jefferson, linebacker Jordan Waiwaiole and linebacker Jamil Cooks won the offensive, defensive and special teams respectively. Last week, junior safety Jon Davis won the defensive awardfor his play over Wyoming.
Jefferson rushed for 62 yards on 10 carries and matched his career high with two touchdown runs, including one on a career-long 50-yard run. He also hit 5-7 passes for 83 yards.
Waiwaiole recorded a career and team-high 15 tackles (eight solo stops), an interception and a sack. With the Midshipmen driving into Falcon territory with 25 seconds left in the game, Waiwaiole recorded his first-career interception to seal the game. Waiwaiole's 15 total tackles are the most by an Air Force player this season and doubled the junior linebacker's previous career high.
Cooks made two pivotal special teams plays. On the Midshipmen's second drive of the game, Cooks leaped over the Navy offensive line and deflected Joe Buckley's 21-yard field goal attempt. Early in the fourth quarter, Cooks penetrated the Midshipmen line once again, this time blocking Kyle Delahooke's punt attempt which lead to an Air Force touchdown.
