The Air Force Falcons tip off their 2012 season against the Army Black Knights on Saturday as the two teams take part in the All-Military Classic at McAlister Field House in Charleston.
Head coach Dave Pilipovich begins his first full season as coach of the Falcons after taking over late in the 2011-12 season after Jeff Reynolds was let go. The Falcons finished 13-16 last season and just 3-11 in the Mountain West Conference. Preseason projections expect Air Force to finish ninth in the MWC this season.
Army also begins the season after struggling last season in the Patriot league. Coach Zach Spiker returns with a team that finished 12-18 last season and 5-9 in the conference before ending their season in the conference tournament.
The two teams faced off in the All-Military Classic last season as well, with Air Force running past Army for an 87-71 win in just the fourth meeting between the two military academies. The series is tied at 2-2.
