NFL Mock Draft 2013: Broncos select Datone Jones with 28th pick

SB Nation's latest mock draft has the Broncos taking DE Datone Jones out of UCLA.

USA TODAY Sports

Thanks to a mis-communication and the Fax Heard Round The World, the Denver Broncos are without Elvis Dumervil and suddenly have a major hole to address on the defensive line. Fortunately, this year's draft class is flush with pass-rushing talent, and there should be plenty of options at the end of the first round.

SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn released his latest mock draft on Monday, and he has Denver selecting UCLA DE Datone Jones with the 28th overall pick:

The Elvis Dumervil fiasco creates a big need for the Broncos at defensive end. Datone Jones is one of the most versatile defensive linemen in this year's draft and could be a solid addition to Denver's front seven.

The Broncos are going all-in on a Super Bowl run, poaching Wes Welker away from the Patriots to give Peyton Manning another weapon to work with, but their defense could use some upgrades. Jones would be a fine replacement for Dumervil. Tank Carradine is another possibility at this spot if his knee checks out.
