Nuggets trade rumors: Denver 'unlikely to make deal,' according to report

With the NBA trading deadline approaching Thursday at 1 p.m. Mountain, trade rumors are bound to pick up in number and in frequency. Just don't expect many of them to involve the Denver Nuggets.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! reported Sunday that other teams are "trying to lure Denver" into trade discussions, but that the Nuggets are "unlikely" to make any trades before the deadline.

One player the Nuggets were interested in, via Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio, was Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick, a free agent-to-be who is averaging career-bests in scoring and assists. However, Denver's interest in the veteran sharpshooter cooled "after he indicated he wants to stay with the Magic" rather than sign elsewhere in free agency.

At 33-21, Denver comes out of All-Star Weekend with the fifth seed in the Western Conference, and it trails the fourth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies by just 1.5 games in the standings. In other words, home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs is within reach for the Nuggets despite starting the season with an 8-9 record. One can understand, then, why the Nuggets may be reluctant to shake up their roster before Thursday's deadline.
