The Idaho Vandals (0-1) are in a bad place to start the season. They opened with a 20-3 home loss, but to make it worse, that defeat came against the FCS Eastern Washington Eagles. The Eagles have had a strong program recently, winning an FCS title in 2010.
On Saturday, the Vandals will face the Bowling Green Falcons (0-1) on the road. The Falcons lost their opening game against the Florida Gators, making the 27-14 defeat unsurprising (even if Florida is lacking in a strong quarterback). Quarterback Matt Schilz completed 24 of 49 passes for 204 yards and threw one interception in the loss.
Idaho didn't face particularly strong quarterback play against Eastern Washington, as Kyle Padron completed just 13 of 33 passes. He did, though, finish with 260 passing yards. Idaho's own quarterback, Logan Bushnell, fared significantly worse with a 10-of-24, 123-yard night.
Can Idaho arise from its loss to Eastern Washington and take care of things against Bowling Green?
