2012 Deutsche Bank Championship: Rory McIlroy Captures Victory At TPC Boston

Rory McIlroy fended off Louis Oosthuizen to win the 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston on Monday afternoon. He shot 4-under for the round and 20-under for the tournament, finishing one stroke ahead of Oosthuizen, who began and ended the day at 19-under.

McIlroy had reach 21-under and held a two-stroke lead at the 17th tee, but he bogeyed the hole, as did Oosthuizen. The one-stroke lead stayed with McIlroy. The Northern Irishman made birdie on five of the front nine holes to one bogey. His birdie on the 12th hole was later balanced by the bogey on the 17th.

Oosthuizen had a chance to tie it on the 18th hole after McIlroy made par, but the South African wound up making par as well.

Tiger Woods finished two strokes back at 18-under. Colorado State alumnus Martin Laird failed to make the cut at the end of Round 2.
