Colorado State's Cory James, Jared Roberts Named Mountain West Players Of The Week

The Colorado St. Rams did both of those during Week 1 of the college football season. The Rams beat the Colorado Buffaloes, 22-17, on Saturday, and on Monday a couple of players picked up conference awards for their actions in the victory.

Freshman linebacker Cory James was the MWC Defensive Player of the Week for his seven-tackle, four-tackle-for-a-loss, three-sack performance. He also forced a fumbled. Sophomore kicker Jared Roberts, the Special Teams Player of the Week, came up big in his first collegiate game, kicking field goals of 47, 48 and 32 yards. The 48-yard field gave the Rams a 19-17 lead with 6:39 left in the fourth quarter.

Nevada running back Stefphon Jefferson was the Offensive Player of the Week for his 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Cal.
