Tracy Porter Named AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

It didn't take long for Tracy Porter to endear himself to Denver Broncos fans. The free-agent cornerback signee from the New Orleans Saints returned an interception for a touchdown to seal the team's Week 1 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Wednesday was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Porter picked off Ben Roethlisberger and returned it 43 yards for six with 1:58 remaining last Sunday night to put the Broncos up 31-19. He also broke up a career-high five passes and had eight tackles.

How rare was Porter's impressive stat line from Sunday night? Glad you asked. Porter became just the fourth player since 1994 to record eight tackles, break up five passes and have a pick-six in the same game.

New Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who was himself the victim of a game-clinching Porter pick-six in Super Bowl XLIV, is probably happy to have Porter on his side this time around.
