2012 FedEx Cup Standings: Rory McIlroy Extends Lead, Phil Mickelson Rises

With another FedEx Cup victory over the weekend at the BMW Championship in Indiana, Rory McIlroy has extended his lead to 3,232 points as the FedEx Cup Playoffs approaches its final event.

McIlroy shot a final-round five under par on Sunday to claim the BMW Championship trophy a week after winning the Deutche Bank Championship in Boston. He defeated Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson by two strokes with the performance.

Mickelson's tied-for-second finish moved him from ninth-place all the way up to fourth, while Tiger Woods' fourth-place finish helped him overtake Nick Watney for second place in the standings.

The results of the BMW Championship trimmed the FedEx Cup Playoffs field to 30, and those 30 players will face off in the Tour Championship on September 17 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The cut to 30 resulted in the end of the playoffs for Colorado State alum Martin Laird. His 64th-place finish last week also put him at 64th overall in the standings.

Below is the top 10 headed into the playoff's final event (with the full 30 here).
