Southern Vs. New Mexico Final Score: Lobos Dominate Jaguars, 66-21, In Bob Davie's Debut

The New Mexico Lobos dominated the FCS Southern Jaguars in a 66-21 victory, providing new head coach Bob Davie with his first win as their head coach. This was perhaps the easiest game on the team's schedule, but it certainly provides a solid foundation going forward.

The Lobos pounded the ball on the ground for most of the game, totaling 382 rushing yards and five touchdowns. DeMarcus Rodgers led the team with 103 yards, but freshman Cole Gautsche wasn't too far behind with 88 yards. He had two rushing touchdowns to Rodgers' one. Jhurell Presley and David Anaya rushed for 75 and 65 yards, respectively.

Gautsche was also 1-of-2 passing for 13 yards while starter B.R. Holbrook completed 6-of-8 passes and threw for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Southern scored its two touchdowns on passes by Dray Joseph and J.P. Douglas.

New Mexico (1-0) begins a three-game road trip next week with a game against the Texas Longhorns. Southern (0-1) is off next week but resumes play on Sept. 13 against Mississippi Valley State.
