On Wednesday, Northwest League President Bob Richmond announced the All-Star team for the 2012 season and it featured two players from the Tri-City Dust Devils, the affiliate for the Colorado Rockies. Outfielders Francisco Sosa and Kyle Von Tungeln both earned the honors after successful seasons in the Class A-Short Season baseball league.
Sosa, 22, had a .278 batting average in the 2012 season and ranked second in the league with 21 steals while Von Tungeln served as the team's leadoff hitter, batting .258. Von TungeIn, 21, was selected in round 13 of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft by the Rockies.
Both players have a road of minor league play ahead of them if they hope to someday make a Major League appearance, but with all-star appearances at a preliminary level, these two Rockies prospects are off to a strong start. Class A-Short Season is a designation just below Class A.
