Washington State Vs. BYU Halftime Score: Riley Nelson, Taysom Hill Put Cougars Ahead Of Wazzu, 24-6

The BYU Cougars lead the Washington St. Cougars at halftime, 24-6. Quarterback Riley Nelson has already thrown for 178 yards and two touchdown passes. His second one was a risky throw, but Kaneakua Friel was able to get his hands on the ball, shed his tacklers and pick up a 25-yard touchdown reception. Nelson threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Skyler Ridley late in the first quarter.

BYU freshman quarterback Taysom Hill found Friel for an early second-quarter touchdown. Riley Stephenson put the remaining three points on the board with a 28-yard field goal.

Mike Leach's debut with Washington State has been lackluster in the first half. Jeff Tuel is just 14-of-24 for 108 yards and an interception. He nearly had a touchdown pass late in the first half, but a holding call brought the ball back. Kicker Andrew Furney wound up making his second field goal of the game. He has field goals of 47 and 41 yards.
