The Colorado Rapids (8-16-2) continue to see their slim chances of making the Western Conference playoffs dwindle after another loss this week. San Jose easily defeated Colorado 4-1 on Saturday, leaving the Rapids just two points clear of the basement in the Western Conference.
Colorado has only eight games remaining in the 2012 season, but they are 11 points behind the Los Angeles Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the final two spots in the Western. Those two teams have 37 points each, while Colorado only has 26.
There should be some chances for Colorado to gain at least a little ground because they play a home and home with the last-place Portland Timbers in their next two games. Portland is two points behind Colorado.
