Boise St. Joins Big West In Non-Football Sports

Boise St. has announced that it will join the Big West for all non-football sports, finishing up conference realignment for the Broncos. They had previously announced that they would become a football member of the Big East. The conference changes will go into effect in the fall of 2013.

When Boise St. announced that they would be be leaving the Mountain West to play football in the Big East, the Mountain West said that the Broncos could not keep the remainder of their sports in the conference. That led them to search for another conference to compete in and the most likely candidate, the Big West, has proven to be the right fit.

This is not the first time that the Big West, which does not compete in football, has taken advantage of realignment to grow their conference. The conference added Hawaii for 2012 and San Diego St. will join the Big West with Boise St. in 2013.

The Broncos will play men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field and women’s volleyball in the Big West.
