Rockies Vs. Cubs: Colorado Rolls Into Wrigley Field

The Colorado Rockies have only played in one city during this seven game road swing, but have already guaranteed themselves a winning trip courtesy of a four game sweep over the New York Mets at Citi Field. Colorado is playing their best baseball of the 2012 season right now, and look to continue that solid play against oneof only two teams in baseball with a worst 2012 record, the Chicago Cubs.

For Colorado, quality pitching has been the story lately. Against the Mets, Rockies pitching combined to hold New York to just five runs in four games. Lefty Drew Pomeranz (1-7, 4.87) looks to continue that streak on the mound for Colorado. Pomeranz has allowed three or fewer earned runs in four of his past five outings, and was effectively wild in his last start, pitching four innings against Miami and allowing just a single earned run.

The Chicago Cubs entered this season in rebuild mode, and their record certainly indicates the rebuild is in full swing at Wrigley Field. At 47-76, the Cubs are very likely to get a top three selection in next year's draft. One of the bright spots for Chicago has been young pitcher Jeff Samardzija (8-11, 4.17), who has been very successful in his first full season as a starter. Samardzija has been very effective lately, with a 2.91 ERA in his past seven starts -- five of those starts, he has allowed two or fewer earned runs.
