2012 U.S. Amateur Championship Update: Semifinals Set For Saturday

Four Americans remain alive for the 2012 U.S. Amateur men's golf title, and they form the semifinals of match play that tee off Saturday morning at 8 a.m. MT at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.

The first semifinal is Justin Thomas of Goshen, Ky., against Michael Weaver of Fresno, Calif. Then Stephen Fox of Hendersonville, Tenn. faces Westlake Village, Calif. native Brandon Hagy in the other semifinal, which tees off at 8:15 a.m.

Thomas birdied the 11th and 12th holes to win 2-up over Australia's Oliver Goss in the quarterfinals Friday. Weaver birdied holes 3, 5 and 12 to take a 4 & 3 win over Ricardo Gouveia of Portugal.

Fox only recorded one bogey to win 4 & 2 over Chris Williams of Moscow, Idaho, and Hagy rallied for a 4 & 3 win over Cheng-Tsung Pan of Chinese Taipei and the University of Washington in the fourth quarterfinal.
