Fantasy Football Rankings 2012: McGahee Safest Option Among Stable Of RB Questions For Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have a few running backs of note, but none who are probably No. 1 fantasy starters.

The running back situation for the Denver Broncos is one of the tougher ones to decipher this draft season for fantasy owners, something we haven't said much since the Mike Shanahan, RB-by-committee days of yore.

Willis McGahee is probably the starter, with fellow veteran Lance Ball currently behind him on the depth chart. Rookie Ronnie Hillman (who is banged up) and former first-round pick/so-far bust Knowshon Moreno are also vying for playing time to leech off some of that sweet Peyton Manning offensive juju.

FakeTeams.com doesn't love McGahee, listing him as their No. 34 running back. Hillman took the No. 46 spot, but the hype might be cooling.

It'll probably come down to whomever is the better receiver out of the backfield that determines where the fantasy value lies, but none are a real RB No. 1. McGahee could be a solid No. 2 or flex play, but he's never been a great receiver. Ball could take some of his time if Manning takes a liking to him. Hillman will lneed to stay on the field to see any real action. Moreno is the wild card here. If he's over his ACL injury and can reclaim that elusiveness that made him so dangerous at the University of Georgia, he could emerge as a playmaker with a real quarterback on the team. But he's a risk, so don't target him unless there are no other attractive options.
