2012 U.S. Amateur Championship Update: Michael Schoolcraft 1 Up After Front 9

Denver's Michael Schoolcraft is one-up against Zack Munroe after the first nine holes of match play at the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship, which is taking place at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo. Schoolcraft, a soon-to-be junior at Oklahoma, won the final three holes of the front nine to take the lead over Munroe.

Munroe opened with a birdie on the par-4 first hole while Schoolcraft settled for par. Munroe moved his advantage two-up after the fifth hole with a birdie on the par-5. Schoolcraft made par once again. Schoolcraft went on to birdie the seventh and ninth holes while making par on the eighth. Munroe made par on the seventh and ninth and in between bogeyed on the eighth.

Match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship involves 64 golfers and whittles down amateurs throughout the rest of the week.
