Spain Vs. Russia Final Score: Spain Advances To Gold Medal Game With 67-59 Victory

After looking dead at halftime, the Spanish team mounted a furious second-half comeback for a 67-59 victory over Russia and a shot at gold on Sunday. Spain must wait for the outcome of the Team USA-Argentina on Friday afternoon to learn their opponent.

Spain entered halftime with in an 11-point deficit, 31-20, but that was erased at the close of the third quarter, which ended in a 46-46 tie. Spain had outscored Russia, 26-15, to completely turn the tenor of the game. The final quarter was another clear victory for Spain, outscoring Russia by eight points, 21-13.

Pau Gasol led Spain with 16 points and 12 rebounds while his brother Marc chipped in 11 points and four rebounds. Former Nuggets forward Rudy Fernandez also dropped in 11 points. Jose Calderon added 14 points.

Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov played just 14 minutes for Russia and scored four points. He and his teammates play the loser of USA-Argentina in the bronze medal game.
