Summer Olympics Results: Kristin Armstrong Wins Gold In Women's Cycling Individual Time Trial

The United States added another goal medal to its treasure trove on Wednesday with a victory in the women's cycling individual time trial. Kristin Armstrong of Boise, Idaho, took home the gold, completing the defense of her 2008 gold medal victory in Beijing.

Armstrong, 38, finished the race in 37:34.82, nearly 16 full seconds better than silver medalist Judith Arndt of Germany (37:50.29). Arndt had finished in sixth place in Beijing. Russia's Olga Zabelinskaya took the bronze medal with a finish time of 37.57.35.

Fellow American Amber Neben finished in seventh (of 24) at 38:45.17.

At the moment, the United States leads the total medal race with 25. China is in second with 23, but it still holds a gold medal lead, 13-10.
