2012 Tour de France Results: André Greipel Takes Stage 4

Germany's André Greipel, who rides for the UCI ProTeam, who Stage 4 of the 2012 Tour de France on Wednesday. Greipel finished the grueling 214.5 kilometer leg in 5 hours, 18 minutes and 32 seconds. The top five of the stage finished as follows:

  1. André Greipel (GER)
  2. Alessandro Petacchi (ITA)
  3. Tom Veelers (NED)
  4. Matt Goss (AUS)
  5. Peter Sagan (SVK)

Finish times beyond that of Greipel are not yet available. Despite Greipel's victory, there was no change at the top of the overall leaderboard, as Team Radioshack's Fabian Cancellara remains in possession of the yellow jersey. Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins finished with the pack and remains seven seconds behind Cancellara.

Stage 4 was marked by a crash as the riders readied for the leg's final sprint. The crash knocked down notable rider Mark Cavendish, forcing him minutes off the pace.
