Derik Beauprez Of Cherry Creek Commits To Miami Baseball Team

Cherry Creek's 1B/RHP Derik Beauprez -- who rates as both a considerable pitching and hitting prospect -- has committed to the Miami Hurricanes baseball team. According to his mother, Beauprez will be donning the Hurricanes' cap following his senior season.

MaxPreps.com records Beauprez junior campaign with a slash of .349/.451/.614 with 19 home runs. He stands a 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and also had a 2.62 ERA though 24 innings pitched. He collected 30 strikeouts while walking 12 and allowing no home runs.

According to PerfectGame.org, Beauprez had previously committed to FIU -- Florida International University in Miami, Florida. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, boast four national championships and are currently ranked No. 17 in the NCAA with a 36-23 record.

In 2011, the Hurricanes were eliminated in the regional finals of the Gainesville Super Regional tournament. Florida went on to lose to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the 2011 NCAA Tournament championship.
