The opening round of the 2012 British Open unfolded on Thursday, and Colorado golf fans may have plenty to watch as the tournament continues at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Cherry Hills Village resident David Duval shot a 4-over in his first round after a birdie on hole No. 9 and a string of bogeys on holes Nos. 5, 6, 13, 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, Colorado State grad Martin Laird shot an even par on his first day -- highlighted by an eagle on No. 7 and dampened by a double bogey on No. 3 -- placing him six shots behind early tournament leader Adam Scott. But a birdie on Hole No. 18 to end the day pushed him to even par.
Tiger Woods shot 3-under in his first round, and for more coverage of his performance be sure to check out SB Nation's golf hub. See the up-to-date British Open Leaderboard here.
