Conference realignment news has died down over the last couple of months, but that doesn't mean it is completely done yet. The Idaho Vandals are currently in the Western Athletic Conference, but after this coming season they and the New Mexico St. Aggies will be the only two members that play football. As a result, they will need to find new conference homes.
For the Vandals, one move that has been discussed is a shift to the Football Championship Subdivision. The Big Sky Conference has apparently talked with the school about making this transition:
Big Sky commish Fullerton on Idaho Vandals: We’re in negotiations with them, there’s no doubt about it. #BigSkyFB #Griz

Doug Fullerton, the conference commissioner, has been interested in the school for at least a couple of months, making this announcement, which came on the day the school unveiled its new conference logo, not much of a surprise.
The Vandals might certainly compete better in one of the top FCS conferences than trying to find a spot in the lower tier of FBS conferences.
