2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament Scores: LSU Defeats Stony Brook, 5-4

The LSU Tigers picked up a 5-4 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday morning after bad weather forced the conclusion of this game from Friday. In the bottom of the 12th inning, Tyler Moore singled to start off the inning and then moved over to second base on an Aaron Nola sacrifice. JaCoby Jones drew an intentional walk during the next plate appearance, setting up Mason Katz for a chance to win the game. Katz drove home Moore on a single to the left field gap for the 1-0 series lead.

Colorado native and LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman came in for the top of the 12th inning and threw just 12 pitches to pick up the victory. Gausman will start the second game for the Tigers when they play it in 30-plus minutes.

The Tigers were down 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, but Jones homered to send the game to extra innings. Stony Brook and LSU exchanged runs again in the 10th and 11th inning, LSU on home runs. But, in the end, Stony Brook couldn't keep that streak going.
