Former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Brock Berglund has decided to continue his football career at the junior college level after entertaining the idea of transferring to an FBS school, as Ryan Casey of the Denver Post writes. Berglund, a northern Colorado native, says that he will enroll at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona in the hopes of reigniting his career.
As Casey writes, Berglund wanted to transfer to an FBS school, ideally in the Pac-12, but he was ineligible after learning that an error in his class schedule left him two credits short of qualification. Berglund believes that the error was made by Kansas after it failed to properly follow all NCAA rules in putting together his academic schedule.
By transferring to a junior college, Berglund will be eligible to play immediately at Scottsdale. If he had transferred to a Division I school, he wouldn't have been able to receive a scholarship for a full calendar year in addition to being academically ineligible for next season.
