2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament Scores: LSU Advances To Super Regionals With 6-5 Win Over Oregon State In Extra Innings

It took them extra innings, but the No. 7 national seed LSU Tigers are heading to the Super Regionals of the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament following Sunday night's 6-5 victory over the Oregon St. Beavers. Shortstop Austin Nola, a former Colorado Rockies draft pick, led off the top of the 10th inning with a walk and reached third on JaCoby Jones' double. Oregon St. pitcher Dylan Davis threw a wild pitch with Mason Katz at the plate, allowing Nola to score and Jones to move to third base. After the Tigers were unable to do anything with the bases loaded, Nick Goody came in for the bottom of the 10th and struck out the side to end the game.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning on a Katz single and a Raph Rhymes two-run home run. But the Beavers went on to score five straight runs off of Ryan Eades, former Colorado Rockies draft pick. Eades lasted 5.2 innings, gave up nine hits and struck out five batters.

LSU added a run in the seventh inning to cut the score to 5-4, but the team had to wait until the top of the ninth to tie the game. Ty Ross led off the inning with a 404-foot double to center field and got replaced by Jared Foster as a pinch runner. Alex Edward followed with a double to left center field to tie the game at five.

The Tigers defeated the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Friday and the Beavers on Saturday before Sunday night's Baton Rouge, La., regional title game.

LSU will face the winner of Monday's UCF-Stony Brook contest in the Super Regionals next weekend.
