The 2012 College World Series is down to three teams on Friday, with the Arizona Wildcats so far the only team in the best-of-three finals. That other spot will go to either the Arkansas Razorbacks or the South Carolina Gamecocks after Friday night's elimination game. The two teams will play at TD Ameritrade Park at 7:00 p.m. MT on ESPN.
South Carolina had to play two games on Thursday to reach this point. Their Wednesday game against the Kent St. Golden Flashes was postponed until Thursday due to inclement weather. That allowed South Carolina to turn to ace pitcher Michael Roth for the elimination game. Roth threw a complete game two-hitter in the 4-1 victory.
Hours later, Jordan Montgomery was just as impressive for the Gamecocks in throwing eight shutout innings in a 2-0 victory against Arkansas. Hanging in the balance for the Gamecocks is a chance at a threepeat in Omaha.
Arizona booked its trip to the finals with a 10-3 victory against the Florida St. Seminoles, winning all three games played so far in Omaha. If they can win title series in two straight games they will finish the postseason an undefeated 10-0 (3-0 in the regionals and 2-0 in super regionals).
