South Carolina starter Jordan Montgomery was outstanding with eight shutout innings of three-hit ball. He struck out six batters and walked only one. The only real threat he faced came in the fifth inning with two outs and Bo Bigham on first base. Derrick Bleeker deposited a ball into left field, but Bigham attempted to go to third base. He was thrown out by Tanner English.

In the second inning, English drove in the first run of the game with a double down the left field line, scoring Erik Payne. English advanced to third base on a ground out and then scored on a Chase Vergason RBI single to center field.

Matt Price closed out the game for South Carolina with two strikeouts and a pop out.

Arkansas and South Carolina play in a winner-take-all contest on Friday at 7:00 p.m. MT (ESPN).
