2012 College World Series Scores: South Carolina Leads Arkansas, 2-0, After 5 Innings

The South Carolina Gamecocks are just four innings away from forcing a decisive Friday night elimination game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. After five full innings, the Gamecocks lead the Razorbacks, 2-0.

South Carolina struck for the only two runs of the game so far in the second inning when Tanner English hit an RBI double down the left field line and Chase Vergason scored him on an RBI single to center field. That chased Arkansas starter Randall Fant out of the game after 1.1 innings of work. He allowed both runs on four hits and a walk.

South Carolina starter Jordan Montgomery, who was bumped to this game after Michael Roth pitched the afternoon game, has held Arkansas to two hits in five innings. He nearly ran into trouble in the fifth inning, but Bo Bigham was thrown out at third base after oversliding the bag.
