The South Carolina Gamecocks can feel victory coming for them on Thursday afternoon, but they still have four more innings left to play against the Kent St. Golden Flashes. The Gamecocks lead the Golden Flashes after five innings, 4-1.
Kent St. got to South Carolina in the top of the second inning with a couple of singles to plate a run, but it's been all South Carolina since then. Grayson Greiner and Chase Vergason hit back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the second inning to take the 2-1 lead. L.B. Dantzler followed in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run home run to widen that lead to 4-1.
Kent St. starter Tyler Skulina worked out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth inning to provide a bit of hope for the Golden Flashes. South Carolina started Michael Roth has allowed just one run on two hits through five innings.
The winner of this game will play the Arkansas Razorbacks just a few hours later on Thursday night.
