2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament Scores: Kevin Gausman, LSU Defeat Oregon State, 7-1

The LSU Tigers are one win away from advancing to the Super Regionals in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament following Saturday evening's 7-1 victory over the Oregon St. Beavers. Colorado native P Kevin Gausman picked up the victory LSU by throwing eight inning of one-run ball.

Gausman wasn't his usual self with a high strikeout total; instead, he whiffed just three batters. However, he limited the Beavers to seven hits and one walk. Nick Goody finished out the game with a clean ninth inning while striking out two batters.

LSU never trailed in this game, first taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Tigers extended that lead to 4-1 at the end of the third inning. Shortstop Austin Nola, a 2008 Colorado Rockies draftee, drove in two runs, including one on a triple in the eighth inning. He then went on to score on a wild pitch after that three-bagger.

Oregon State starter Dan Child allowed five of the seven runs while his one run of offensive support came on three straight singles in the third inning.

The Tigers will play in the regional final on Sunday evening, but they must wait for the conclusion of the Sunday afternoon contest between the Beavers and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. The Tigers beat the Warhawks on Friday night.
