The No. 1 national seed Florida Gators have advanced to the Gainesville, Fla., regional title game on Sunday following a 6-2 victory against the No. 2 regional seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The Gators barely trailed in this game after being down 1-0 to start the third inning. A Nolan Fontana sacrifice fly tied the game, 1-1, but it was in the fourth inning when the Gators broke open the game. Catcher Mike Zunino led off the inning with a home run; Justin Shafer drove in the second on a single; and Vickash Ramjit hit a sac fly for the third run of the inning and a 4-1 lead.
Former Colorado Rockies draftee Preston Tucker bashed a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning for a 6-2 lead. Reliever Jarrett Didrick was responsible for those two runs, while Tech ace Buck Farmer allowed the first four runs before leaving after seven innings of work.
Florida's Hudson Randall allowed one run on eight hits in 5.2 innings while striking out five. Steven Rodriguez allowed the other Tech run in his 3.1 innings of work.
On Sunday evening, the Gators will face either the Yellow Jackets again or the College of Charleston. Those two teams will play each other in an elimination game on Sunday afternoon.
